News Channel 10 is reporting that several members from the cast of Texas have died in a car accident.  Details are still unfolding.

The outdoor musical was in the process of wrapping up its 48th season this week with and extended fireworks and water finale.  We will update as soon as more information is received.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved as well as the cast and crew of Texas.

UPDATE 8:30a: Tonight's performance of the play has been cancelled.

UPDATE: 6 people were involved in the accident, 5 were killed.

UPDATE 10:41AM from ProNews 7:

According to DPS Trooper Christopher Ray, at about 11:26 pm, a Ford Taurus driven by Clinton Diaz of Amarillo was traveling west on FM 119 and attempted to turn south onto US 287.

The vehicle pulled out into the path of a southbound semi-truck tractor trailer driven by Theron Arthur McSay of Ft. Collins, CO.

The collision killed five of the six passengers. Timothy Johnson of Portland, OR. Was transported, by Lifestar, to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with critical injuries. The driver was also transported with serious injuries.

Troopers on the scene are continuing the investigation.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

 

UPDATE 1:03pm: The names of the victims have been released, Clint Diaz, Amarillo - Andrew Duncan of Wichita Falls, Tx. - Eric Harrison of Fort Worth, Tx. - Julian Arredondo IV of Haltom, Tx. - Amanda Starz of Timonium, Maryland.

Still no word on the condition of Timothy Johnson, who was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital by Lifestar, nor the truck driver Theron Arthur McSay.

UPDATE 8/14-Tonight's performance of TEXAS has been cancelled.  As of now Thursday-Saturday performances will be happening.
